Retreating back to his corner he weeps
I had an Uncle Biford who I adored when I was a small nephew.. Reminds me now of Opie from The Andy Griffith show.. I always loved his name, hence the title..

Shadows
SHADOWS The light peeks thru the transparent curtains of his mindBut he recognizes only darknesscontrolling every thought, every emotionHe stays in his corner, afraid to look Shadows, Shadows, and More Shadowsconsume him, tightening their gripChanging daylight to dusk, joy to despair Shadows destroying his dreams, torturing them with doubt He cannot see As the dawn of his consciousness begins the dayHe withdraws the thick black curtains slowly, Illuminating his fear, removing his securityHis mind struggles to stay alive, to survive Shadows, Shadows, and more Shadowsmenacing, surrounding, clawing at his soulturning everything around him black, darkness prevailsShadows are his enemy disguised as a friend He is alone His thoughts and fears moving into the light, Blinding him with an assumed reality of doom Paralyzing his sanity, his dreams, his hopeHis ability to love what is his, is gone Shadows, Shadows and More Shadows Confusing what he has with what he does notHorrified by what he thinks he sees and hears His Shadows, once again, have won, he is defeated
